Billy Fleming


William T. Fleming was a Scottish footballer who played as an inside left in the English Football League for Sheffield United and Bury and in the Scottish League for Abercorn.
By 1892, Fleming was playing for Darlington of the Northern League, and attracting interest at a higher level. The "promising forward" became Sheffield United's first signing after their promotion to the Football League First Division. He scored seven goals from 21 league matches before returning to Scotland to join Abercorn. In January 1896, Fleming moved back to England, signing for Bury for a fee of £30 to Abercorn and a further fee to Sheffield United, who retained his Football League registration. He played twice in the First Division for Bury, scoring once. He spent a short spell with Tottenham Hotspur in late 1896, playing twice in the Southern League and scoring once,.
Fleming's older brother James, known as Jock Fleming, played League football for Aston Villa and Lincoln City.
