Billy MacLeod


William Daniel MacLeod was a relief pitcher in Major League Baseball who played briefly for the Boston Red Sox during the 1962 season. Listed at 6' 2", 190 lb., he batted and threw left-handed.
In 1960, MacLeod had a 9-0 record during his final season at Gloucester High School. He also had a decent season in 1961, going 8-6 for the PCL Seattle Rainiers, and entered the majors in 1962 with the Red Sox. In two relief appearances, MacLeod posted a 0–1 record with two strikeouts, one walk, four hits allowed, and a 5.40 ERA in 1 innings pitched.
MacLeod was back in the minors in 1963. In 1965, while pitching for Double-A Pittsfield in the Eastern League, he finished with an 18–0 record. Counting his final four decisions of the 1964 season, he won 22 consecutive games. He retired after the 1968 season. He died at his home on December 12, 2018.
