Critical reception
Larry Crane of TapeOp said of the album, "A backing band of Alan Pasqua, Tom Warrington and Peter Erskine doesn't hurt in catching the late night, smoky vibe of these mostly downtempo tracks. With top players and the singer laying down tracks live in a room, the depth and dynamics in this recording are a pleasure."Charts
Bittersweet debuted at number 10 on the ARIA Jazz & Blues albums chart in the week commencing 20 April 2009. It peaked at number 3 on the chart four weeks later. It also charted at number 90 on the ARIA albums chart.Weekly charts
