Blackpink House is a South Korean variety show by Blackpink broadcast by the South Korean television station JTBC. The show is about the members of Blackpink and what they do in their everyday lives. The first episode of the show was aired on JTBC2 Channel on January 6, 2018. The show was also aired online via YouTube and via Naver's V Live.
History
Blackpink's agency, YG Entertainment, has finally started to film a reality show for Blackpink. In the past, YG filmed other variety shows for its other artists such as "BIGBANG TV", "2NE1 TV", and "WINNER TV", and now YG had officially posted a teaser in YouTube on December 28, 2017. Blackpink's teaser scored over a million views on YouTube, which evoked high expectations from fans globally. In 2016, Blackpink House first appeared on Naver TV on August 25 of the same year. Blackpink got its first reality show a month after its debut with "Boombayah" and "Whistle." The first launch of the program was a test conducted on August 21. Following that release, YG Entertainment announced that the group would start 'Blackpink House,' a program that exposes the members' daily life and real appearances. However, there was no other news about the program until November. 2017, where YG posted the message «Blackpink TV.» On November 2017, YG Entertainment released a video a teaser video on Blackpink's YouTube account. In the teaser, the members of Blackpink were fooled by a candid camera prank. Without knowing YG's Yang Hyun Suk was secretly watching them, Blackpink continued and listed their bucket list relentlessly. When the members were stating their wishes such as a summer vacation, and ‘CEO’s credit card' Yang Hyun Suk revealed himself with a 1-year anniversary cake, making all four members surprised. Blackpink was truly touched when they heard Yang Hyun Suk's proposal to start filming ‘Blackpink TV’ because earlier when the members were listing their wish list, they wished for a private time where they can release their stress. Additionally, he also stated that he would prepare a ‘Pink Princess House’ which symbolizes Blackpink for them to live during their hundred days of vacation, which they call it as 100cation. Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa began their exciting story in the “Blackpink House’, starting with laundry, cleaning, and traveling. As the episode was published, Blackpink showed exciting activities such as paragliding in Lisa's home country, Thailand, going to a Korean style sauna, as they wished to Yang Hyun Suk. In the ending of episode 11, the four Blackpink member had to leave their pink house since it was their last day of vacation. Surprisingly, YG promised to release episode 12 as a bonus if they reach eighty-eight million views on YouTube, which they did. On the YouTube platform in June 2020, the total number of views that BlackPink house has achieved is more than 400 million views. This is a number that very few reality shows do.
