Bob Bassett


Bob L. Bassett is the Dean of the Lawrence and Kristina Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University. He is a former English professor at the University, then known as Chapman Christian College.
Bassett's personal guests at the University have included film star and California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and directors Robert Zemeckis and William Friedkin, among many others.

Education

Bassett obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Pomona College. He went to graduate school at the University of Chicago and the Claremont Graduate University.

Career

Bassett has helped Dodge College grow to have an enrollment of more than 1,500 students and be regarded one of the finest film schools in the world. In the early 90s, he recognized the growing industry of digital technologies and redirected the school's focus and curriculum to that area. The faculty he assembled has a filmography consisting of more than 150 feature films, more than any other film program. His faculty consists of well-known and prestigious filmmakers including John Badham, David S. Ward, Bill Kroyer, Bill Dill, Paul Seydor, Alex Rose, Martha Coolidge, and Larry Paul.

Awards

In 2006, he received the Artistic Visionary Award from Arts Orange County.
