Bonpara
Bonpara is a paurashava in Baraigram Upazila of Natore District in north-western Bangladesh. It was established in the late 1920s by Christians from Bhawal, a Roman Catholic stronghold to the north of Dhaka District, and is one of the oldest Christian communities in the country. On 5 June 2016, local Christian Sunil Gomes was hacked to death in Bonpara in an attack claimed by Islamic State. Gomes was killed at his grocery store after Sunday prayers at a local church.
