He was the zamindar of Gouripur in Mymensingh, Bengal. His son was Pandit Birendra Kishore Roy Chaudhuri, the eminent sitar player, a founder of the music department of Rabindra Bharati University, Calcutta and author of Indian Music and Mia Tansen.Work
