Brendan Edwards
Brendan Edwards is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Hawthorn Football Club in the Victorian Football League from 1956 to 1961 and again in the 1963 season. During the 1959 season, Edwards convinced Hawthorn coach Jack Hale to adopt circuit training for the entire team. Edwards won the Hawthorn best and fairest award in 1960 and represented Victoria at interstate football in the same season. After he was seriously injured and he retired as a player in 1963, he founded a chain of health clubs in Melbourne and pioneered the concept of aerobic fitness in Australia.
