Brett Garrard


Brett Spencer Garrard is a male British former field hockey player.

Hockey career

Garrard competed in the 2000 Summer Olympics and in the 2004 Summer Olympics. He represented England and won a bronze medal in the men's hockey, at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. He also competed at both the 2002 and 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Still England and GB’s most capped player, Garrard announced his retirement from international hockey in April 2008. After a distinguished playing career with Surbiton, interrupted by a year’s stay in the Netherlands with Klein Zwitserland.

Coaching and management

Garrard became Surbiton Hockey Club’s Director of Hockey in 2008. Throughout his career and since he was a teenager, Garrard has run junior coaching camps at clubs, schools and universities throughout the UK, Europe and the US.
