Brian Dunne


Brian Boru Dunne II was Orion's chief scientist. Dunne worked on explosive model tests at Point Loma on Orion Project. Brian worked alongside Jerry Astl and Morris Scharff.
He continued to work for General Atomic, and later started his own firm; Ship Systems.

Project Orion

Dunne was the chief experimental scientiston Project Orion. He worked on Project Orion as an experimentalist.
Dunne worked alongside Jerry Astl, Rudy A. Cesena, Ed A. Day, Mike R. Ames, Richard D. Morton, Reed Watson, Richard Goddard, Menley Young, Michael J. Feeney, Jim W. Morris, R. N. House, Leon Dial, W. B. McKinney, J. R. Pope, Fred W. Ross, Perry B Ritter and Walt England on the test models.
Dunne and Howard Kratz set up a facility for firing explosive-driven plasma jets as sample pusher-plate targets, after explosive-driven flights were cancelled. "There was great rivalry between those two . At times didn't talk. They were jealous of each other. It was quite natural that they not get along I think." says Kedar Pyatt.
