Bruno Råberg


Bruno Råberg is a Swedish-born jazz bassist, composer and music professor based in Boston.

Career

Bruno Råberg is an internationally renowned bass player and composer and a mainstay on the Boston music scene. Since coming to the US from his native Sweden he has made 11 recordings as a leader, about 30 as a sideman, and has performed with numerous world-class artists.
Some of the distinguished musicians Råberg has performed and recorded with include Donny McCaslin, Chris Cheek, Bruce Barth, Kenny Werner, George Garzone, Bob Moses, Mick Goodrick, Ben Monder, Adam Cruz, Jim Black, Matt Wilson, Ted Poor and Mike Mainieri. Tours have taken Råberg throughout Europe, Scandinavia, USA, Japan, India, Africa, and Central America, and to jazz festivals such as Pori, Umbria, Monterey, Nancy, Bologna, Graz, Stockholm, Boston, and Cape Town.
As an educator Råberg stands out. He is a professor at Berklee College of Music in Boston and has traveled to Spain, Poland, Czech Republic, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Japan and Costa Rica as a clinician and performer for Berklee. He teaches in the prestigious Berklee Global Jazz Institute’s Masters Program, which is led by pianist Danilo Perez. Raberg also teaches in the Berklee Valencia Summer Program, Interlochen Summer Jazz and Berklee Global Jazz at Newport Jazz Festival.
Råberg has been teaching at Berklee College of Music in Boston as a professor since 1986.
Råberg's releases has received numerous reviews from jazz critics. Bill Milkowski in Jazz Times says: "For sheer output alone, it’s astounding. And the depth of expression and degree of surprise represented here is remarkable."
