Bubup

Bubup, originally named HD 38283, is a 7th magnitude F-type main sequence star located approximately 125 light-years away in the constellation of Mensa. Bubup is not visible to the naked eyes for most people but can be easily seen using binoculars.
The survey in 2015 have ruled out the existence of any stellar companions at projected distances above 11 astronomical units.

Name

Bubup was originally named HD 38283, as part of the Henry Draper catalogue. The star was given the name "Bubup", the Boonwurrung word for "child", by the IAU, chosen by representatives of Australia for the 2019 NameExoWorlds content.

Planetary system

On April 11, 2011, a Saturnian planet, Yanyan, was discovered in an Earth-like 363-day orbit. Yanyan itself turns out to be unable to host habitable exomoons, both because of its significant eccentricity, and because of the overluminosity of its host star compared to the Sun.
