C. Scott Green


C. Scott Green is an American businessman and academic administrator who has served as the 19th President of the University of Idaho since July 1, 2019. Green has been characterized as a "non-traditional" choice for the role, as he does not have a doctorates degree or a background in higher education.

Early life and education

Green was born in Moscow, Idaho and raised in Boise, Idaho. In 1984, Green earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Idaho, also serving as student body president. He earned a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 1989.

Career

After earning his undergraduate degree, Green worked for Boise Cascade, a manufacturer of wood products. After earning his MBA, Green worked for Deloitte and as a banker at Goldman Sachs and Barings Bank. He served as as CEO of Pepper Hamilton and executive director of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr. He served as global chief operating and financial officer of Hogan Lovells, a multinational law firm, in the New York City office.
In April 2019, the Idaho State Board of Education unanimously approved Green's appointment to the presidency of U of I. His first year salary was $420,000.

Personal life

He and his wife Gabriela have two adult children, named Nicholas and Christina.
