Geography
Before the merger, Calfreisen had a total area of. Of this area, 49.5% is used for agricultural purposes, while 30% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.7% is settled and the remainder is non-productive. The former municipality is located in the Schanfigg sub-district of the Plessur district. It is on the north slope of the Schanfigg mountain.
