History

Radford Community Hospital was founded in 1943 in Radford, Virginia. The hospital became affiliated with Carilion Clinic in 1987. Since the facility at RCH was aging, they began construction of a new hospital in 1997. Carilion New River Valley Medical Center opened in March 1999, and is located at 2900 Lamb Circle, Christiansburg, VA.

Virginia Tech massacre

On April 16, 2007, Carilion New River Valley Medical Center received victims of the Virginia Tech massacre. Four patients were reportedly treated.
