Collazo started his career working in the international trade industry where he was exposed to business and the importance of information to support business. Today, these tariff and commodity classification systems are known as the Harmonized System for Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System. The HS is the international standard for reporting goods to customs and other government agencies. Globally adopted by 180 countries and covering 98% of merchandise trade, the HS has been administered by the Brussels-based World Customs Organization since 1988.

In 1982, Collazo founded and served as its Chairman and CEO until the company was sold in 2013. In June 2013, Collazo concluded state and federal cases between and among inter alia Collazo, his prior company, on the one hand, and Red River Resources on the other hand. Collazo was not found liable or culpable for any misconduct in any of these proceedings. The proceedings were partially dismissed on various motions and then concluded by Settlement and Mutual Release. In 2014, Collazo expanded innovative consultancy and advisory practices with strategic data analytics, business development and cyber intelligence. In 2015, Collazo introduced advanced process and methodology business curation technology into consultancy and advisory practices based on his design of evolving and identifying strengths in company strategies.
