Caroline Russell


Caroline Marguerite Cumine Russell is a Green Party of England and Wales politician and activist. Since May 2016, she has been a member of the London Assembly.

Early life and education

Russell studied Civil Engineering at City University London, graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering degree, and Fine Art at Goldsmiths, University of London, graduating with a Master of Arts degree.

Political career

Russell is the national transport spokesperson for the Green Party.
On 22 May 2014, Russell was elected a councillor for the Highbury East Ward of Islington London Borough Council, and she was re-elected in 2018. Throughout both her terms as a councillor, she has been the only non-Labour member of the council and so forms a single-person opposition.
Russell has stood as a candidate for the Islington North constituency against the incumbent Labour MP, Jeremy Corbyn in three general elections:
On 5 May 2016, Russell was elected a Member of the London Assembly. She had stood as a Green Party candidate on the London-wide list.

Personal life

In 1989, Russell married Roly Keating. Together they have three children; one son and two daughters.
