Central Carolina Technical College


Central Carolina Technical College is a community college in Sumter, South Carolina. It is part of the South Carolina Technical College System.
The institution was established in 1962, when the South Carolina legislature created the Sumter Area Technical Education Center. The school changed its name in 1971 to the Sumter Area Technical College; it took its current name in 1992. It received its initial accreditation from the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1974.
CCTC primarily serves four regions in South Carolina which include Clarendon, Lee, Kershaw and Sumter counties. The College offers certificates, associate degrees and diploma programs to prepare students to enter the job market, to transfer to senior colleges, and to achieve their professional and personal goals.

Campus Locations

The college participates in the Statewide Articulation Agreement of 86 courses approved by the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education. These courses are eligible for transfer from two-year to four-year public institutions. CCTC has specific admissions agreements for the following associate degree programs: The Citadel, Columbia College, ECPI, Francis Marion University, Limestone College, Morris College, Saint Leo University, Salem International University, Springfield College, Strayer University, University of Maryland University College, University of South Carolina and Webster University.

Veterans Upward Bound

CCTC is one of two colleges in South Carolina to have a Veterans Upward Bound grant program. The goal of the program is to see veterans succeed from any branch of the military. To qualify for the program, a veteran must be a resident of Clarendon, Kershaw, Lee, or Sumter counties and must meet one of the four criteria: be out of high school or college for more than five years, have a disability, be below a certain income threshold, or be a first-generation college student.
