Charles A. Eldredge
Charles Augustus Eldredge was a U.S. Representative from Wisconsin.
Born in Bridport, Vermont, Eldredge moved with his parents to Canton, St. Lawrence County, New York, in 1825.
He attended the common schools.
He studied law.
He was admitted to the bar in 1846 and commenced practice in Canton, New York.
He moved to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, in 1848 and continued the practice of his profession.
He served as member of the Wisconsin State Senate 1854-1856.
Eldredge was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-eight and to the five succeeding Congresses. For the first five congresses he was the representative Wisconsin's newly created 4th congressional district, however for his last term in office he redistricted and was elected to the Forty-third Congress as the representative of Wisconsin's 5th district.
He was an unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1874.
He resumed the practice of law.
He died in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, October 26, 1896.
He was interred in Rienzi Cemetery.
