Chem-Dry is a carpet cleaning and upholstery cleaning franchise chain with main offices in Logan, Utah and Nashville, Tennessee. When it was founded in 1977, it was originally based in California. Chem-Dry began franchising in 1978 and now has over 4000 locations worldwide, including in the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Ireland, The Netherlands, Serbia, Slovenia, Portugal, Thailand, Malaysia, Kuwait, India, Kazakhstan, Cambodia and the United Kingdom, making it the world's largest carpet cleaning franchise chain. In 2006, Chem-Dry was acquired by The Home Depot. In 2011 Chem-Dry was sold to Baird Capital Partners which is located in Chicago. This purchase also included N-Hance which specialized in wood cabinet and flooring renewal service. N-Hance has over 200 franchises. In 2018 Baird Capital Partners purchased Delta Restoration Services and now offers flood disaster services. In 2019, Chem-Dry became part of the BELFOR Franchise Group and Dan Tarantin, previously Chem-Dry President, became the COO of BFG. Edward Quinlan became President of Chem-Dry in October of 2020. Chem-Dry uses a Green Certified, hot carbonated extraction process, which is a much drier process than steam cleaning. They also now offer encapsulation, a process to aid commercial carpet cleaning. Chem-Dry offers Tile, Stone and Grout Cleaning and Sealing, Wood Floor Cleaning, Upholstery Cleaning, Area Rug Cleaning and Pet Urine/Odor Removal as well. In July, 2020, Chem-Dry added the MicroPro Shield disinfecting and 90-day antimicrobial protection service to help facilities maintain cleaner, safer spaces. Chem-Dry uses a rating system known as "Circle of Excellence" to differentiate franchises. When entering a local ZIP code into Chem-Dry's website, the top results will be those who have achieved "Circle of Excellence". They will be further divided with icons to show those who use CTS Truck Mounts, have achieved 5 Star Training, offer leather cleaning and offer tile and stone cleaning. Chem-Dry has been ranked Entrepreneur Magazine's top-rated carpet cleaning franchise for 31 straight years. In the 2020 Franchise 500 list, Entrepreneur Magazine was ranked #74.
