Chibuzor Obasi


Chibuzor Obasi is a Nigerian American writer. Born to an Igbo family. He spent his early years between Imo and Lagos. He lives in the United States.

Early life and education

A significant part of his early formal and informal education was in the Eastern and Western parts of Nigeria.
His university education was in Nigeria, Europe and the United States. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Uyo, and a Master of Arts in Multi-Cultural Studies from the University of Bayreuth in Germany. In 2011 he was registered and taking classes for a doctoral program in Organizational Development at Grand Canyon University, Arizona.

Career

Obasi's early writings and cartoons were published in school journals and magazines. His plays, poems, short stories and commentaries were broadcast on Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria network programs, before he officially joined the network as a reporter and an editor after the mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps, in Abuja, Nigeria. As a journalist, he reported and produced news programs for the FRCN. Obasi continues to work for media organizations as a freelancer. He equally volunteers for different causes in Nigeria, Europe and the United States in different capacities.
In 2006 the International Society of Poets recognized Obasi's contribution to poetry during its ceremonies and awards that year in Nevada.
