Chick Evans Field House
The Chick Evans Field House is a 6,000-seat multi-purpose arena in DeKalb, Illinois, USA. The arena opened in 1956 and was home to the Northern Illinois University Huskies basketball team prior to the 2002 opening of the Convocation Center. The building is now used for recreation, housing basketball, indoor soccer, and floor hockey. It is also the base of operations for the university's ROTC program. In addition some smaller-scale events, such as organizational expos by the Student Association, are still held here. It held concerts for 30 years. Elton John played there in 1972 and KISS played there in 1974. The late Frank Zappa played there in '75. UK band Jethro Tull played there in '75. Muddy Waters from Chicago played there in '76. Charlie Daniels Band in '76, Rockford's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Cheap Trick played there twice, Grateful Dead in '77, Blue Öyster Cult in '78, Hall & Oates in '78, Jefferson Starship in '79, Loverboy in '81, Kansas in '81, UK's Peter Gabriel in '82, The Kinks in '83, R.E.M. in '86, Bob Dylan in '90, Black Crowes in '93, Rage Against the Machine in '93, Cypress Hill in '93, Blues Traveler in '96, Counting Crows in '97, Less Than Jake in '00, and the late bluesman B.B. King in '05.
