Chino (1991 film)


Chino is considered to be one of the most commercially successful films in the history of Nepali cinema. It was directed by Tulsi Ghimire, produced by Bishnu Gopal Shrestha and starred Shiva Shrestha, Bhuwan K.C., Sunil Thapa, Kristi Mainali, Sharmila Malla, Subhadra Adhikari, Sinaura Mistry, Aaron Malla and Sushila Raymajhi. Ranjit Gazmer was the music director of the film.

Film

Chino Starts with notorious villain Rate released from jail after 4 years and looking for Laxmi who has already married with two children while Rate in Jail. During Tihar celebration in Laxmi house, Rate reach there and confronts her. Then Rate killed Laxmi's Husband. While locking in a room, Laxmi took her two children with her, set his house on fire and fled away. One of his son is flown in the river while fleeing from Rate. Rate thinks that LAxmi is killed in the River while fleeing.
The son flown by river is found by Bau and took to Gumba for ascertaining he is live or not.The monk in the gumba perform rituals to child and the child is saved by Monk. After nobody took the child, finally Bau decides to adopt the child. But girlfriend of Bau, rejected him due to child and finally he dumped his girlfriend for child. Laxmi returns to home and collected ash of her husband. She decides not to do death rituals of her husband until Rate will not be killed. the story then follows how the two children grows up and finally killed Rate for their mothers.
Chino had all the elements of an entertaining Nepali movie: action, story, romance and above all good music. Mohani Lagla hai, Maya ta Maya ho both sung by Narayan Gopal and Asha Bhosle, rocked the music charts for several months. Chino is often referred to as the Sholay of Nepali cinema.
