Chitgoppa is a city and taluka in Bidar district in the Indian state of Karnataka. Chitgoppa came under the administration of Homnabad Taluk prior to being declared a taluk in its own right in 2017. It has the largest marketplace in Bidar District. The area is noted for its corn production. The Nizams had control over this place and it was a district during their time and known as Paiga District. The Nizams established Sadar Diwani Adalat and Moffusil courts. Patwardhan Saheb was the first president of the municipality. Kishan Rao Saheb was the president of the municipality three consecutive times. Later he voluntarily stepped down and gave the opportunity to others to become president and serve. This town also has the Khandsari Sugar Factory, which closed in 2005. Raghavendra Auradkar, the then Police commissioner, did his schooling from this place. There is a more than 500 years old banyan tree near Basawanna temple at the heart of the city. The Dasara Festival is celebrated on the day when all the people in Chitgoppa go to Bhavani temple together and greet each other with "Banni".
The town has a famous dargah, and Urs are held every year; Nana Hazart Dargah is also here. In Chitguppa, aradhane is observed every year, and Prasad is served to all sections of the society irrespective of caste and creed. Gavi Madivaleshwar Temple, Markhandeshwara Temple, and Bhavani Temple are also famous in this town.
