Chow Kon Yeow


Chow Kon Yeow is a Malaysian politician and the current Chief Minister of Penang. He is a member of the Penang State Executive Council as the Chairman for the Local Government, Traffic Management and Flood Mitigation Committee. He is also the State Assemblyman for Padang Kota in the Penang State Legislative Assembly and the Member of Parliament for Tanjong in George Town, Penang.
Chow is also incumbent national Vice Chairman and Penang State Chairman of Democratic Action Party, a component party of Pakatan Harapan coalition. On 14 May 2018, he was selected to be the Chief Minister of Penang, succeeding Lim Guan Eng, who was appointed as Finance Minister of Malaysia by Mahathir Mohamad.

Personal life

Chow was born on 14 November 1958 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He holds a Bachelor in Social Sciences degree from University of Science Malaysia. Before entering politics, Chow was a journalist by profession.
Chow married Tan Lean Kee and the couple has two sons.
