Chris Greenwood


Chris Greenwood is a Canadian football cornerback who is a free agent. He played college football at Albion College, a Division III school. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. A native of Detroit, Michigan, Greenwood attended Martin Luther King High School, where he was teammates with Nick Perry, Styles Young, and Darrin Williams.

Professional career

Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions drafted Greenwood in the fifth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. The Lions released Greenwood on August 31, 2013, and re-signed him to their practice squad.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys signed Greenwood off the Lions' practice squad to their 53-man roster on September 25, 2013. However, he was released again less than a month later when DeMarcus Ware got hurt and the Cowboys needed help at defensive line.

Detroit Lions (II)

The Lions quickly signed Greenwood back to their practice squad after he turned down multiple practice squad offers to return to his hometown team. He played in 3 games for the Lions and made 6 tackles. The following season Greenwood did not adjust well enough to Teryl Austin's new defensive philosophy and was released by Detroit in the final cutdowns on August 30, 2014.

Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings added him to their practice squad on September 1, 2014.

Baltimore Ravens

He was signed to the Baltimore Ravens active roster on December 17, 2014. Greenwood was placed on IR on August 31, 2015. On September 2, 2015, Greenwood was released by the Ravens with an injury settlement.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots signed Greenwood to their practice squad on November 18, 2015. The Patriots released Greenwood on December 10, 2015.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

On February 21, 2017, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed Greenwood to a contract. He was released on June 17, 2017.

Personal life

Greenwood is the nephew of former NBA players, Barry Wayne Stevens & Jeff Grayer Sr.
