Chyhyryn Raion is a raion of Cherkasy Oblast, central Ukraine. Its administrative centre is located at the town of Chyhyryn. Population:
During the Ukrainian War of Independence the region was proclaimed the "Kholodny Republic" which strived for Ukrainian independence from the Soviet Union.[, Gazeta.ua ] The Kholodny Republic lasted from 1919 to 1922.
