Claremont Colleges Rugby Football Club
The Claremont Colleges Rugby Football Club is composed of students from CMC, Pomona, Pitzer, Scripps, and Harvey Mudd. The team competes in the with teams such as , , , and others. Rugby is one of the most successful athletic programs among the Claremont Colleges, consistently competing for or winning its league and advancing to the national playoffs.
Governance
In the United States, college rugby is governed by : USA Rugby, geographical unions and local area unions . USA Rugby has established a College Management Committee and a collegiate director, Rich Cortez, to oversee college rugby. The NCAA has no authority over college rugby. Often called a club sport, each college team is administered by either the athletic department or the student club department.The Claremont Colleges Rugby Club is governed by USA Rugby and National Small College Rugby Organization, which USA Rugby recognizes and supports as an independent organization. In the past, college rugby competitions have been governed by local unions.
Play and Participation
maintains player eligibility guidelines, administered by the local area unions. Claremont Colleges players generally have five years of rugby eligibility from the time they graduate high school.Conference Membership

The Claremont Foxes Women's Rugby Club are a collegiate women's rugby team consisting of players from all five of the Claremont Colleges. The organization was founded in 1995, and is a Division II team that plays against other schools in the Southern California Rugby Football Union, including USC, Cal State Northridge, Cal Lutheran, Occidental, UC Irvine, Cal State Fullerton, CSU Long Beach, and UC Riverside.Conference Membership

named the Claremont Colleges Men's Rugby Club in its 2011 collegiate competition, where 31 teams competed in the newly established Division 1-A Rugby, slated as a tier above Division I.The Men's club now plays in the Gold Coast Conference of Intercollegiate Rugby, which includes Arizona State University, University of Southern California, University of San Diego, California State University Long Beach, Azusa Pacific University, and MiraCosta College.
