Clelia Murphy


Clelia Murphy is an Irish actor from Dublin. She was a long-running cast member of the popular Irish soap Fair City, in which she played the character Niamh Cassidy for twenty-two years.

Career

''Fair City''

Clelia Murphy began her career in Fair City in 1996 playing schoolgirl, Niamh Cassidy. One of her first major storylines saw her start an illicit relationship with her teacher, Barry O'Hanlon played by Pat Nolan.
Niamh was featured in story lines involving her tumultuous relationship with her on-again-off-again husband, Paul Brennan.
In 2014, Niamh's biggest story line came when she began an affair with a younger man, Michael. The arc gripped viewers, culminating in Niamh having to decide between husband, Paul, and Michael.
In 2017, after twenty-two years on the soap, Niamh left the soap following a dramatic story line which saw her flee to a different country with husband Paul's life savings.

''Dancing with the Stars''

In January 2019, Murphy appeared on the third series of the Irish edition of Dancing with the Stars.
Murphy was paired with Estonian dancer Vitali Kozmin in the competition. They reached the quarterfinals of the competition before being eliminated after falling into the dance-off for the third consecutive week.

Personal life

In 1998, Murphy gave birth to a daughter, Clarabelle. Clarabelle is an actress.
