Cold Sun

Cold Sun is an upcoming spy thriller film written by Simon Golding and directed by Jason Figgis. It stars Patrick Bergin, Rita Tushingham and Ian Ogilvy.

Synopsis

Following the attempted assassination of the British Foreign Secretary, who is left in a critical condition, the country is in shock. MI6 launch a large international investigation; various operatives are spread worldwide, following up the few leads they have. One possible destination of the assassin, following a sighting, is Madagascar. A minor lead is the neighbouring French island; La Réunion, with another in Mauritius a low priority. MI6 operative, Marsha Ravencourt, is posted to work with Cheyenne 'Chey' Marchand, from the French DGSE. Both young women are inexperienced and have no knowledge of working in the field. They are to find themselves at the very epicentre, thrown into the dangerous world of international greed - perpetrated by a ruthless oil tycoon, backed by the Russian mafia. Events start to move at an alarming pace as both operatives expose an international scheme to assassinate various politicians that will bring billions to an unscrupulous oil tycoon. Both women unconventionally inch towards uncovering the brutal plot and exposing a retired assassin; Karl Quinn. The whole mission highlights both operative's bravery, intelligence and resourcefulness against impossible odds and a powerful experienced enemy. Will both operatives survive? The odds are against them.

Cast

In production for several years, the film was originally titled Hide and Seek until it was renamed Cold Sun in 2019. This is actress Françoise Pascal's first producing role on a film, and her own company, Pascal Productions is involved in production, along with its subsidiary MFC Productions Limited. The husband of cast member Vicki Michelle, Graham Fowler, is the cinematographer of the film while Marc Sinden is to be the co-producer of the film while also making an appearance in it as well in an acting role. Filming is to take place on location in London, Ireland and Pascal's native Mauritius. EGG Post production is to be involved with the film's post-production. The film is currently in pre-production, but is set to be released some time in 2021, although this may get pushed back due to the coronavirus.

Casting

The principal cast, that includes well known actors such as Patrick Bergin, Rita Tushingham, Ian Ogilvy, Vicki Michelle and Shaun Williamson was announced by late 2018. Award-winning actress Lesley-Anne Down is listed to appear in the film according to the film's official website, although she is not included on the cast list on the film's IMDb page, so it is unclear whether she is involved in the production or not. Acclaimed horror actress and Bond girl Caroline Munro was involved in the early stages of production, although it does now not look like she is to appear in the film.
