occipital pole
to within a
short
distance
of the
temporal pole
.

calcarine fissure
, from which it is
separated
by the
lingual gyrus
; in
front
, it is
situated
between the
parahippocampal gyrus
and the
anterior
part of the
fusiform gyrus
