Gutiérrez made his professional debut in a 3–1 Copa Chile home win over Deportes Concepción on 1 March 2015. He was loaned to fellow Chilean side Unión Española on 9 February 2017. Gutiérrez was then loaned to Huachipato on 3 August 2017. He returned to Colo-Colo on 6 March 2019.On 16 January 2020 Gutiérrez signed with Major League Soccer side Vancouver Whitecaps FC on a two-year deal through the 2021 season, with contract options for 2022 and 2023. He made his debut during the MLS is Back Tournament on July 19 against Seattle Sounders FC.International career

Gutiérrez was born in Greenfield Park, Quebec and moved to Santiago when he was three years old. His twin brother Diego is also a footballer and plays for Valour FC.
