Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004


was represented by Lisa Andreas and the song "Stronger Every Minute", with music and English lyric by Mike Connaris, and Greek lyrics by Matheson Bayley and Andrew Adams.

Before Eurovision

National final

62 songs were submitted to CyBC, and a five-member selection jury selected ten songs for the national final. The selected entries and the performers for each song were announced respectively on 25 January 2004 and 7 February 2004.
The final was held on 17 February 2004 at the Pavilion Night Club in Nicosia, hosted by Loukas Hamatsos. Ten acts performed and the winner was selected by a combination of televoting and an expert jury.

At Eurovision

For the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, a semi-final round was introduced in order to accommodate the influx of nations that wanted to compete in the contest. Because Cyprus placed 20th at the 2003 contest, Lisa was forced to compete in the first Eurovision semi-final, held on 12 May 2004. She performed 14th, following Albania and preceding Macedonia Cyprus qualified to the final, placing 5th in the semi-final and scoring 149 points. In the final, the country performed 21st, following UK and preceding Turkey and placed 5th in the final, scoring 170 points, meaning that Cyprus automatically qualified for the final in the 2005 contest.
