Dölf Wild


Dölf Wild is a Swiss historian, archaeologist, science writer and works as the chief archaeologist of the city of Zürich. He is mainly known for his investigations in the medieval construction history of Zürich and built heritage conservation.

Life and work

Dölf Wild grew up in Neuhausen am Rheinfall, and made an apprenticeship as a draftsman at the as of today SIG Sauer in Neuhausen. Later, he earned the baccalaureate at the cantonal school for adults KME in Zürich. He studied history, anthropology and art history at the University of Zurich, and promoted in 1999 on the subject of Das Predigerkloster in Zürich. Ein Beitrag zur Architektur der Bettelorden im 13. Since 2001 Dölf Wild is the head respectively chief archaeologist of the city of Zürich, and among others he supervised the 2014/15 excavations at the Münsterhof plaza.
