Darras Hall railway station

Darras Hall railway station served the estate of Darras Hall, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England from 1913 to 1954 on the Ponteland Railway.

History

The station opened on 1 October 1913 by the North Eastern Railway. It was situated in the north east corner of the level crossing on Broadway. Although two tracks passed through the station, there was only one timber platform, which had a wooden building on it. In the 1920s there were services for the employees of Belsay Colliery. The station closed to passengers on 17 June 1929 and completely on 2 August 1954. A church was built on the site of the station, although this was demolished circa 1993.
