David García Ilundáin was a Spanish chess Grandmaster .Biography
David García Ilundáin participated in World Youth Chess Championship in U18 age group in 1988 in Timișoara and World Junior Chess Championship in U20 age group in 1991 in Mamaia. One of his first successes in the international arena was in 1991, when he shared 3rd place in international chess tournament in Montpellier. In 1992 David García Ilundáin shared 3rd place in the Open tournament in Candas. In 1993, he shared 1st - 6th place in the Spanish Chess Championship. In 1994, David García Ilundáin shared 2nd place in Open tournament in Las Palmas, and in 1995 he shared 2nd place in Manresa and Benasque. In the following years David García Ilundáin achieved further successes, including shared 1st place in León, shared 2nd place in Terrassa, 1st place in Fomento, shared 2nd place in Montcada i Reixac and shared 1st place in Paretana.

In 1996, he was awarded the FIDE Grandmaster title.
David García Ilundáin played in chess tournaments until the end of 2001. Six months later he died due to brain tumour.
