David Leckie


David John Leckie was the Chief Executive Officer of the Seven Media Group. until 26 June 2012. On that day, he was replaced at Seven West by former Woodside Petroleum CEO Don Voelte.
Leckie maintains a role in the media company as executive director of media at Seven Group Holdings, which holds investments in Seven West, earthmoving company WesTrac and Agricultural Bank of China.

Early life and education

Leckie was educated at Newington College and is an Economics graduate of Macquarie University.

Career

Prior to his appointment by Kerry Stokes to Seven, he was associated with the Nine Network for 23 years. Having joined GTV-9 as a sales executive, he was promoted to National Sales Manager, then Nine Network Sales Director in 1982 at TCN-9. In August 1990, he became Managing Director of the Nine Network and in 1994 was appointed Chief Executive Officer. In 2001, he was appointed a Trustee of the Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust.

Personal life

On 5 April 2008, it was revealed that Leckie had been placed in an induced coma, battling complications from a recent injury to his finger and has subsequently made a full recovery.
