David Palffy


David Palffy is a Canadian film and television actor best known for playing Anubis and Sokar on Stargate SG-1.

Early life

David Palffy anticipated studying law at the University of Calgary when he decided to attend the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England. His notable theatre appearances include Oberon in Shakespeare's Midsummer Nights Dream, Richard in Richard III, Strindberg's Miss Julie, David Mamet's Speed The Plow. Palffy lived on a Dutch barge on the River Thames under the Battersea Bridge while studying in London, until his appearance in Stanley Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket". Shortly thereafter he was cast as the lead in the acclaimed Dutch series "De Zomer van 45" followed by a few appearances with The National Theatre Company. Palffy returned to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada where he appeared in over 75 film and TV productions, as well as being the founder of The Yaletown Actors Lab, where he taught acting, writing and directing for over 10 years. He is now a successful entrepreneur and businessman and more recently a producer of the acclaimed documentary film "Open Schools"about Open Schools in South Africa.

Career

Among his numerous credits, he played the notorious Goa'uld villains Sokar and Anubis in Stargate SG-1. He has had recurring guest appearances in series such as Cold Squad, The X-Files, First Wave, , and Andromeda. He played the role of Castillo Sermano in the film adaptation of the video game House of the Dead. He also played the main antagonist, Caleb Reece in the 2004 racing video game,.

Personal life

Palffy married actress Erica Durance on January 8, 2005. The couple's first child was born in February 2015. Their second son was born in December 2016.
