Plot

Warren Price, the son of a millionaire, is on a mission to explore a former Japanese military bunker on the island of Una-Una, Gulf of Tomini, Sulawesi, together with Japanese scientist Rie, Price's girlfriend Su-Ling, Price's personal bodyguard Stanley. They are escorted by a team of mercenaries, consisting of Captain Tino Prawa, Djoko, Richard, and Sergeant Papa Snake. After being ambushed by pirates, the group are forced inside an abandoned Japanese military bunker where they become trapped.
Wounded and desperate, the group is left with no choice but to move deeper into the mine in the hopes of finding an alternate exit route. Warren finally informs the group that the true purpose of their excursion has always been to find the mine and that he believes it contains massive riches. This reveal is met with scorn by the mercenaries in the group but with no other choice they proceed deeper into the mine.
The group uncovers a hidden storage area where pictures of POW abuse is found. The group starts to realise that the bunker was actually a chemical and biological weapons research facility Where the Japanese used prisoners of war as subjects for horrendous experiments. Su-Ling, Stanley and Djoko remain behind in the infirmary with the wounded soldier Richard. Warren, Su-Ling, Captain Tino Prawa and Sergeant Papa Snake decide to separate and explore the bunker further with a view to finding a way out.
Stanley and Rei bond while in the infirmary where Stanley explains why he works as a bodyguard and why he no longer serves in the military, describing a violent bar brawl he was involved in. Meanwhile Tino moves deeper into the bunker where the second group find more military relics indicating Australian POWs were used by the Japanese for experimentation. Rei admits her purpose was never to find the gold but evidence of the abuse. Suddenly the injured Richard screams and is dragged into a hole by a mysterious figure. Richard, Rei and Djoko drop into the tunnel in pursuit but are soon separated, Rei and Stanley find Richard's badly mauled body while Djoko encounters a crypt with human skeletons. He quickly dispatches a monster as it approaches him but is soon overwhelmed, blinded and devoured by a horde of monsters.
Meanwhile Warren and the second group uncover a control room with medical notes detailing some of the experiments the Japanese were conducting. The group are attacked and Price is stabbed. They manage to kill the monster. Warren examines the mutated body and spots a Japanese tattoo identifying the monster as an Australian POW. Where they suddenly realise the monsters are actually POWs who have been mutated. Warren is shocked to find a needle and when he inspects it, he is angered to see that it is full of gold and realises that there is no gold as the Japanese used it as part of the experiments on the POWs.
Stanley and Rei are captured by a final remaining Japanese officer. He takes them back to his lair where Stanley manages to overpower him but stops short of killing him upon Rei's request. He removes his gas-mask and reveals horrible mutations. Rei interrogates him and he explains, that he and another officer were tasked with looking after the Bunker and instructed to guard the POWs. He explains that their superiors were experimenting on the POWs and turned them into bloodthirsty monsters. When Rei asks what happened to his fellow officer, the soldier admits that he killed him for trying to desert as he thought the war was still ongoing. The officer explains that the experiments didn't finish with the POWs, the Japanese were trying to create super soldiers so experimented on the elite Imperial Guard troops. The officer also explains he was given an injection to keep him young, but this failed and mutated him. After Rei shows him evidence on her tablet of the Japanese surrender at the end of World War 2 he agrees to show them the way out of the Bunker.
Tino and Papa Snake explore a room off the experiments chamber and find what looks to be statues of Japanese Imperial Warriors. When Tino steps forward the warriors animate and attack him. Papa Snake is mortally wounded attempting to close the doors and Tino witnesses them killing his friend. Su-Ling and Warren escape into the tunnels with Tino coming after them. The Imperial Warriors begin pursuit and as they chase the group they are joined by the POW monsters. Tino finds the bodies of his men in the crypt just as Warren is attacked by a POW monster. Su-Ling fends off a monster and they manage to escape reuniting with Stanley and Rei.
Warren is mortally wounded and the group debates leaving him before Su-Ling panics and injects him with the mutant serum, hoping to save him. The Imperial Warriors emerge from the tunnel and they execute the Japanese Officer as Rei, Stanley, Warren, Su-Ling and Tino try to escape. Tino and Stanley are attacked but Rei helps by killing the monsters. Warren and Su-Ling become separated from the others. Tino, Stanley and Rei are soon surrounded and forced deeper into the tunnels. Tino makes a valiant last stand to give Stanley and Rei time to get away but is quickly overwhelmed and killed by the Imperial Warriors.
Meanwhile Su-Ling tries to drag Warren to safety but he has fallen unconscious. As she explores ahead of them she realises they are almost at the surface and she returns for Warren only to see him seemingly reanimate. He violently smashes her against the tunnel wall killing her. Rei and Stanley dive into a pond of water hoping to follow it to the surface and escape the Bunker.
Rei emerges in a pond outside in the jungle and calls for Stanley. Slowly an Imperial Warrior appears and Rei attempts to fight him off only for him to draw his sword and dispatch her. The remaining Imperial Warriors emerge from the water as the film ends.
