Deepa Nair


Biography

Deepa Nair is an Indian film actress who appears in Malayalam films. The engineering graduate from Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering, Trivandrum, Kerala is not a new face to the Kerala audience. She has hosted several programmes in Asianet and made her debut through a Malayalam film "Priyam", co-starring Kunchacko Boban.

Film career

Deepa was interested in acting, but fear of her engineering studies being affected discouraged her father Gopalakrishnan from allowing her to join the film industry. After that, directors Vipin Mohan, Bhagya Raj, Sanal, Sab John spoke to her father and thus, she made her debut through "Priyam". She had a tough time with filmi dance because the style was very different from normal classical dance, especially when it came to fast steps. Her first movie was a great success. She received offers from Tamil films also but at present she plans on concentrating only on Malayalam. Her favorite actress is Manju Warrier. When asked in an interview if she was interested in doing glamour roles she said "Not interested. I prefer very good character roles like what Manju Warrier did."

Personal life

Deepa Nair, of Priyam fame, married Rajeev Nayar;software engineer based in Australia. She took up a job with Infosys after studies in 2003 and wedding in 2004 finally to get on with life. She has two daughters Sradha and Madhavi. She is also a trained dancer.
