Delmar High School


Delmar High School is a public high school in Delmar, a community in Sussex County, Delaware. The school is co-located with Delmar Middle School, along with the district offices. Delmar High School's enrollment includes students from Delmar, Maryland and 45 students from other cities under Delaware's School Choice program.
The total 2008–2009 high school enrollment was 640 students, and 501 students in the middle school, with 1,141 students in the district in total. The current school building was built in 2000, though the original building was built in 1928.
The school completed expansion in August 2008, with the cafeteria being expanded to hold approximately seventy additional students. The middle school also added a new wing.
In the 2008–2009 school year, the Delmar School District introduced a uniform policy replacing its original dress code.
In March 2010, the Delmar and Wicomico Boards of Education approved modification of the Bi-State Agreement, which allows cross-border student enrollment. The passage of the modification moves 5th graders at Delmar Elementary School, which is on the Maryland side of town, to the middle school, beginning in the 2010–2011 school year.

Extra-curricular activities

Clubs and organizations

Delmar participates in athletics in the Henlopen Conference. It is one of the smallest schools in the conference, by enrollment, thereby competing in the Henlopen South. In total, the Delmar Wildcats have won six state championships in both boys' and girls' sports. The school has been in eleven football championships, the last being in 2017. The Delmar Wildcats football team's rival is Laurel High School's Bulldogs, a rivalry known as the Battle for the Lions Club Trophy.
