Delta Psi Epsilon


Delta Psi Epsilon is a Christian women's ministry. The purpose of Delta Psi Epsilon Christian Sorority, Inc. is to bring Christ to women of all races, creeds, tongues and denominations. The sorority is a founding member of the United Council of Christian Fraternities and Sororities.

History

Delta Psi Epsilon was founded on January 16, 1999, by Founders Carla Griffith, Vila-Sheree Watson and Nicole Gardner. Carla, Vila-Sheree and Nicole met each other as a result of being a part of a local, Christian club at Oakwood University. This sorority was formed to give women an opportunity to become a part of a Greek-lettered organization, but at the same time hold fast to their Christian values. In 2000, Delta Psi Epsilon Christian Sorority, Inc. became incorporated.
In February 2004, the sorority took in its first members. These 7 women are known as the Seven Heavenly Virtues. These are Sonya Archie, Cheryl Plaster-Vinson, Rayquisha Render, LaTonya Sparks, Maritza Barnes, Mary Watson and Griena Knight.

The Orchidettes Club is an entity run by Delta Psi Epsilon to minister to high school age girls on the finer points of Christian womanhood. Orchidettes Clubs are forming under the leadership of chapters and colonies at various churches, schools and as community-based groups throughout the country.
The purpose of the Orchidettes is to provide young women with educational, vocational, civic, cultural and spiritual experiences. Orchidettes works on a five-fold structure in the areas of spiritual, social, service, education and exposure.
The sorority is a founding member of the United Council of Christian Fraternities and Sororities
