Democratic Union Issa


The Democratic Union Issa was a political party of French Somaliland and the French Territory of the Afars and the Issas.

History

It is created in the early 1960s by militants allied with Mahmoud Harbi in 1957, choosing to vote for maintaining the territory under French sovereignty in 1958. He then led by Hassan Gouled Aptidon. During the 1960s, the UDI includes the Issas opposed the Popular Movement Party, Independence.

In 1967, the IDU would have around 100 members.
