Deoghar Airport
Deoghar Airport is located in Deoghar, in the state of Jharkhand, India. The airport is spread over 654 acres.
The airport is being upgraded to handle Airbus A320 type of aircraft. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of development of the airport in Jharkhand on 25 May 2018.
The Jharkhand government had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Airports Authority of India in 2013, to develop the airport, to promote religious tourism in the state.
The government later signed a tripartite MoU with the AAI and DRDO in March 2017, to develop the airport for non-military use of Airbus A-320 category aircraft.
AAI proposed to upgrade the airport at a cost of INR 350 Crore. The upgrade includes extension of existing runway to 2,700 metres, construction of a 5,400 square metre terminal building to handle 200 passengers per hour, a mobile air traffic control, apron for two A320 aircraft, taxiways and an isolation bay. A DVOR/DME navigational facility is also planned. Construction commenced in January 2018.
