Disclosure Scotland

Disclosure Scotland is an executive agency of the Scottish Government, providing criminal records disclosure services for employers and voluntary sector organisations.
Any person can apply for a Basic Disclosure in their own name: this is a document listing the person's unspent convictions under the terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. The service is available even to those who are not Scottish residents; it is similar to that provided by the Disclosure and Barring Service, except that whereas the only checks available from the DBS include spent convictions, Disclosure Scotland "basic" checks may be used by any prospective employer provided the applicant consents.
The Scottish Government also operate the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme, or PVG Scheme, which is administered by Disclosure Scotland. This scheme provides enhanced criminal records information to organisations working with children and vulnerable adults.
