Distribution of seats in the Austrian Landtage


The Austrian Landtage are the unicameral legislatures of the nine Austrian states, according to the Constitution of Austria deciding in all matters unless explicitly subject of federal legislation. On federal level the Landtage are represented in the Federal Council.
Eight political parties are represented in the Landtage legislative assemblies. Currently the Austrian People's Party, the Social Democratic Party of Austria and the Freedom Party of Austria are represented in all state diets. The Green Party is represented in all but one state diet.

The seats of ruling parties are in bold fonts. The state governments of Carinthia, Lower Austria and Upper Austria are formed according to the principle of proportional representation.
The largest faction usually nominates the state governor.
