Dorothy Alison


Dorothy Alison was an Australian stage, film and television actress.

Biography

She was born in the New South Wales mining city of Broken Hill and educated at Sydney Girls High School. She moved to London in 1949 to further her career. Aside from her numerous mostly-supporting film roles, she appeared in several television programmes and miniseries, including a prominent role in A Town Like Alice, The Adventures of Robin Hood as the Duchess Constance and other TV shows.
She was nominated for two BAFTA awards: Most Promising Newcomer for Mandy and Best British Actress for Reach for the Sky. For her performance in A Town Like Alice, she won the 1982 Logie Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Telemovie. She died at the age of 66 in London in 1992.
