Duncan Watt


Duncan Watt was an author and a newscaster and radio presenter. A household name in the 80s and 90s, Watt read the primetime news on Channel 5 for the then Singapore Broadcasting Corporation from 1980 to 1998 as well as presented classical music on Symphony 92.4FM for about 24 years until 2004. He was also known for his 20-book Wallace Boys series for teenagers about the adventures of brothers Nigel and Bruce Wallace in far-flung places such as Kariba, Zimbabwe, the Skeleton Coast and the Scottish Highlands.

Biography

The only child of British parents, Watt was born near Victoria Falls, then Northern Rhodesia, now Zambia. He travelled to more than 80 countries around the world before falling in love with and settled in Singapore in 1976, after his first visit as a backpacker in 1969.
Watt was diagnosed with liver cancer in June 2016. He died on 7 September 2017 at the age of 74.
