At the 2010 census East San Gabriel had a population of 14,874. The population density was 9,444.2 people per square mile. The racial makeup of East San Gabriel was 5,037 White, 243 African American, 58 Native American, 7,421 Asian, 3 Pacific Islander, 1,602 from other races, and 510 from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3,700 persons. The census reported that 14,868 people lived in households, no one lived in non-institutionalized group quarters and 6 were institutionalized. There were 5,134 households, 1,882 had children under the age of 18 living in them, 2,871 were opposite-sex married couplesliving together, 650 had a female householder with no husband present, 313 had a male householder with no wife present. There were 177 unmarried opposite-sex partnerships, and 32 same-sex married couples or partnerships. 1,064 households were one person and 387 had someone living alone who was 65 or older. The average household size was 2.90. There were 3,834 families ; the average family size was 3.35. The age distribution was 3,255 people under the age of 18, 1,154 people aged 18 to 24, 4,139 people aged 25 to 44, 4,304 people aged 45 to 64, and 2,022 people who were 65 or older. There were 5,391 housing units at an average density of 3,468.7 per square mile. The racial makeup of the CDP was 42.55% White, 1.85% Black or African American, 0.63% Native American, 40.47% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 10.12% from other races, and 4.28% from two or more races. 23.52% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. Of the 5,201 households 34.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.4% were married couples living together, 12.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.7% were non-families. 22.7% of households were one person and 7.1% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.79 and the average family size was 3.28. The age distribution was 23.7% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 32.0% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% 65 or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.3 males. The median household income was $51,301 and the median family income was $59,127.
