Edgar Smith (pitcher)


Edgar Eugene Smith was an American professional baseball player who played in the outfield and was a pitcher in Major League Baseball from to and then again in. He began his career with the 1883 Providence Grays, and played in two games, then later in the season he played in one game for the Philadelphia Quakers. In, he played in 14 games for the Washington Statesmen, and he returned to the Grays for one game. After the 1885 season, he didn't play in the major leagues again until 1890, when he played in eight games for the Cleveland Spiders. Smith died at the age of 30 in his hometown of Providence, Rhode Island, and is interred at the Swan Point Cemetery.
